Even with my increased appetite, the mental food roadblocks from the dark days of morning sickness have still made me uneasy about certain foods, like bananas and chicken. This week I have really tried to incorporate more items into my menu, especially bananas. I've been craving fruit all week after eating a slice of cantaloupe with lunch and thinking it was the best thing I'd ever tasted. That left me feeling invincible and immediately jumped to bananas Tuesday morning. I think that was a little ambitious, given the flashback from the dark period when I would greet the day with my face planted firmly on the toilet seat. This morning (as suggested by Jesse) I decided to take baby steps and try small bites instead. It worked and was totally delicious!

The people of It's-It (http://www.itsiticecream.com/) have filed a amicus curiae brief against your Klondike bar statements.
You are on notice.
So glad to hear that your head-plant days are behind you! I discovered when we moved to NY that I'm a cottage cheese snob, of sorts, too--and have mourned the loss of one of my favorite breakfasts (cottage cheese with apple sauce and a pinch of salt--shockingly good) until just recently, when I finally found a brand that seems comparable to the Knudsen's of my youth. I would love to try yours!
1. When I was pregnant, I would lie in bed at night at think about how excited I was to eat a grapefruit in the morning.
2. Your blog is above NPR in my google reader, and I mistook their newest posting for yours. The title? "One Fish, Big Fish, Old Fish: Buttkiss." I hope you write that blog someday.
I discovered Nancy's cottage cheese last week! No way! It really does taste like nothing else. How do they do it?
Eric, I don't know if I can get It's-it ice cream sandwiches here in Portland. Besides, I think they're in an entirely different category of ice cream sandwiches.
Amanda, I don't know how Nancy's does it, but I'll never be able to eat the regular stuff again!
All the food you describe sounds so good!
